The Aspen Institute (“Institute”) values your privacy. This privacy policy will advise you about our guidelines concerning the use of your personal information, including, without limitation, the reasonable efforts we make to protect your personal information in accordance with these guidelines, and about what choices you have concerning our use of such information. Please read this policy carefully. We may need to change this policy from time to time in order to address new issues and reflect changes on our Site. We will post those changes here so that you will always know our policies regarding what information we gather, how we might use that information and whether we will disclose that information to anyone. We keep your private information private by:
  • Not selling your information—You've entrusted us with your personal information, and we're committed to using it wisely. We will not sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason, at any time.

Personal Identification Information

In certain circumstances, the Institute may share personal identification information with trusted service providers that need access to your information to provide operational or other support services or we may share this aggregate statistical information with other third parties; to ensure the confidentiality and security of this information, service providers must agree to safeguard all information in strict compliance with our policy. We may also provide information to regulatory authorities and law enforcement officials in accordance with applicable law or when we otherwise believe in good faith that the law requires it.

Opt-Out Policy and Removal of Personally Identifiable Information
If you “opt-in” to receive information from us, you can change your mind later. The Institute gives you practical options to remove yourself from Institute mailing lists and from participation in certain interactive areas of the Institute’s websites. You may correct, update or deactivate your personally identifiable information by contacting us by telephone or email on our Contact Us page. Please note that we may retain certain information about you as required by law or as permitted by law for legitimate business purposes (e.g., in accordance with our record retention policies).

Non-Personal Identification Information

We collect non-personal identification information without limitation, through the use of the following types of methodology:

We are not responsible for the information practices of such third-party websites or applications.

Security

The Institute has taken steps to help protect the personal information we collect. However, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your device and account by, among other things, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess and keeping your log-in and password private.

Commenting Policy
In keeping with our mission to provide a nonpartisan venue for dealing with and discussing critical issues, the Institute welcomes comments on our Sites and across its pages on other social media and online platforms. We welcome opinions and comments. Differences of opinion are welcome as long as they are respectful.  Be courteous and respect those asking questions with friendly, informative discussions.  If it’s not, it will be deleted.  The opinions expressed in these comments are not necessarily those of the Aspen Institute. Comments that the Institute deems to include profanity, hate speech, personal attacks, or libelous, defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive or otherwise illegal (including violations of copyright or trademark laws) or unacceptable material may be removed. We reserve the right to block or remove the posting privileges of commenters who violate these standards of decorum at any time. Posters will be permanently banned immediately for a serious, willful, and/or repeated violation of any of these rules.


Children
Consistent with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), our Services are not targeted to children under thirteen (13) years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete such personal information from our systems.

Consent to Transfer

The Sites are operated in the United States. If you are located outside of the United States, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By using our Website, participating in any of our services and/or providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer.

Your Acceptance of These Terms
